Its time to make sweet music and a sageuk together.
The singers and actors Lee Seung Gi and Bae Suzy (from the girl group miss A) have been cast to play lovers in the upcoming MBC historical/fantasy drama The Writings of Nine Houses. The drama will replace the Horse Doctor, which is currently completing its 50 episode run.
The Writings of the Nine Houses is about a mythical creature (Gumiho) named Choi Gang Chi (Lee Seung Gi) who is half human and half gumiho. He longs to become complete human being, but he is forced to try to maintain a human lifestyle the best way he can. Lee Seung Gi’s has acted in numerous productions, but Suzy has only had a shorter amount of time to prove herself.
How is her acting ability today?
“At first, I was very skeptical of Suzy’s acting skills, but she really is talented. I realized that I’m the one that I need to worry about. She is like a sponge. It’s amazing,” actor Sung Hyun stated at a press conference for the drama Big.
The writer behind the hit drama King of Baking Kim Tak Goo, Eun Kyun, and A Gentleman’s Dignity producer, Shin Woo Chul, join forces to make this unique fantasy series.The 25 year-old veteran actor Lee Seung Gi plans to take on the 18 year-old chameleon actress Suzy in late March or early April.
In general, this year Suzy plans to take on a more grown-up persona.
Bae Suzy, will turn 19 this year (20 in Korean age) and she is ready to embrace being legal. She expressed her desire to be more sensual in the new year at the 2012 MBC Music Festival on December 31.
“I want to go to clubs and watch R-rated films. Also, I want to release sexier songs as a member of Miss A,” she stated.
As her acting career progesses her music career remains on fire. She is the first female celebrity in Korea to obtain a million followers on Twitter and she is the stand out member of her bi-racial group Miss A.
Miss A, a Korean and Chinese ethnic band is composed of members Suzy and Min( who are Korean) and Jia and Fei (who are Chinese). They recently ended their promotional activities for the song “I Don’t Need a Man”.
