What kind of movies will be released in 2013? Well, all the movie fans out there, pay attention to this one!

The most renowned and respected film directors in Korea will release their new movie in the first half of the year! Let me introduce each of the film director and their new movie.

To start off is Director Ryu Seungwan’s ‘Berlin.’ He has returned after his last movie, ‘Unfair Deal,’ which was three years ago. He has been receiving great attention for this new movie and the movie boasts of fabulous casts: Ha Jungwoo, Han Sukgyu, Ryu Seungbum, and Jeon Jihyun.

In the movie ‘Berlin,’ Berlin is a city that is forbidden to enter alive and it is a story of the best of the best secret agents and how they survive through their missions to kill each other. If the best action and survival movie of the year in 2012 was ‘Thieves,’ it’d be ‘Berlin’ in 2013.

Second, it’s Director Kang Wooseok’s ‘The Legendary Fighter.’ It’s his nineteenth movie and it’s a story about three main characters who used to be gangs in high school. 25 years later, the three main characters are about to be divorced, depressed at work, and are in many crises. They’ve finally learned that fighting can’t get them anything but they keep participating in the fighting competition for money until they meet each other and face the last fight of their life.

Third, it’s Director Bong Junho’s ‘Snowerpiercer.’ He also directed ‘The Host,’ and ‘Mother.’

This movie is based on the French SF animation that received Grand Prix at the Angouleme International Comics Festival. In the movie, climate change has caused severe cold and death of many people. For those who are living, they are led to a train, which is like the Ark of Noa where it has food and water. However, as food and water deplete, the train turns into a chaos.

Lastly, it’s Park Chanwook’s ‘Stoker,’ his first movie to enter Hollywood. He directed films like, ‘Joint Security Area,’ ‘Vengeance is mine,’ ‘Old Boy,’ ‘Kind Ms.Geumja,’ and ‘Bat’ etc. He’s known for directing unique and unusual movies and he has been receiving a lot of attention from the international arena. Anyways, his new movie, ‘Stoker,’ is a thriller about a mother and a daughter, and her uncle who appears after the father’s death.

There are a lot more movies to be released and let’s hope for a year of Korean Wave in the film industry!
