“Many South Korean movie and music stars are just as popular in Japan as they are at home. And last week’s disaster in Japan is bringing out the best in them,” writes Jaeyeon Woo in the Korea RealTime blog of The Wall Street Journal.
Actor Bae Yong-joon, a superstar in Japan since his days as the lead actor of the Korean TV drama “Winter Sonata”, Â donated 1 billion Won (some $900,000) to a relief organization in Japan.
Others making donations include Kim Hyun-joong, the heartthrob from the TV drama “Boys Over Flowers”, actor-singer Ryu Si-won, and actor Song Seung-hun.
Actor Lee Byung-hun and singer BoA, who has been popular in Japan for years, all expressed their sorrow, Korea RealTime reported.
